Happy Thanksgiving to those in the US, and for those elsewhere the holiday season is just around the corner. I thought I’d post something that is relevant to this time of year. I can’t remember a time that I was ever “filled with joy” come November and December but somehow music has always helped me to get through it and this song is no exception. I must confess however, a dear friend always posts this song around Thanksgiving reminding me what the song is really about. Somehow I fixate on the beauty of the texture that her vocals create and forget to observe what’s actually being said so I’m glad that I can get that reminder to look beyond the obvious.
I wish this video was better quality than it is. It’s recorded from a stream that used to exist on a now defunct website called rehearsals.com. There doesn’t seem to be a higher quality version in existence. There are decent audio versions but I love this video because you can actually see Imogen build the song, something that is missed by simply listening to the album version or an audio only version of the recording.
